LPA fees are rising on 17 November 2025 – Act now!

The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) has announced that the fee to register a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) will increase from £82 to £92 per application on 17 November 2025.

Most people make two LPAs:

  • Property & Financial Affairs
  • Health & Welfare

If you do both, it currently costs £164. After 17 November, it will be £184 — that’s £20 more per person (or £40 more per couple).

Why act now?

  1. Save money – register before 17 November 2025 and avoid the higher fee.
  2. Avoid delays – the OPG has cleared its backlog and is processing LPAs faster.
  3. Protect your future – an LPA ensures that someone you trust can make decisions for you if you can’t.
  4. Avoid mistakes – getting it right now avoids extra fees and delays later.

What is an LPA and why is it so important?

A Lasting Power of Attorney lets you choose someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf if you become unable to do so yourself — whether because of illness, injury, or simply getting older.

Without an LPA, your family may need to go to court to get authority to help you — an expensive and stressful process.

Don’t leave it too late

The deadline to submit your LPA at the current fee is 16 November 2025. After that, it will cost more.
We recommend getting started now to allow enough time for paperwork to be completed and registered.
